Laik and Sarah are putting together a series of masterclasses to help skaters at all levels improve, learn something new or just practice something you or your child feel you or they are doing wrong. If improving your stopping skills is something you would like to work on, please spend a moment completing our poll below.
What is a Masterclass?
Each Masterclass is a 30 minute session and is a mix of demonstrations, exercises and practice to help you learn or improve a single skill. The masterclasses will run just before the beginning of of a normal weekly skate session at some of our venues. Over the coming months we will cover skills for new skaters and intermediate skaters.
Who is a Stopping Masterclass for?
Our stopping skills masterclasses will be for skaters who have good general skating skills but want to spend some focussed time learning or practicing different ways to stop quickly and effectively.
Where will these Masterclasses be held?
They will be run at some of our regular weekly venues. PLEASE NOTE some masterclasses will only be run at certain venues (for example hockey stops are best suited to Longbridge or Thorns Collegiate). Also some locations do not have the 30 minute slot before the session available for us to use.
How can I tell you what new skills I want to learn?
In order to help us prioritise the order we run the masterclasses we would like some feedback about which skills you would most like to learn. Over the coming weeks we will be publishing a number of surveys asking which skills you or your children would like to work on.
How much will a Masterclass be?
A masterclass is £4 per person using their own skates. The session price remains the same, therefore the fee for a masterclass and the session will be £10 per person. If a skater is staying on for the session and requires skate hire the fee is £2 for use of the skates during the Masterclass and the session. If skate hire is required we will need to know in advance to make sure they are available for the skater at the beginning of the session.
Will I get anything on completion of a Masterclass?
All masterclass delegates will receive a certificate on completion of the class.
Stopping on Quads or Inline Skates – Poll
You can only choose one option per vote but if there are more than one type of stop you want to learn you can vote more than once. We will take the results from this Poll to help us organise some 30 minute masterclasses based on the most popular stops first.
